Sustainable City

Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.

What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

Laundry Detergent Refill Stations

Plastic waste makes up about 20-30% of the volume in landfills and will stay there almost permanently. To reduce the amount of plastic that end up in landfills, a system to refill substances that people use on a regular basis, such as laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, cat litter, or anything carried in a large plastic container, should be implemented in cities. I believe this will greatly reduce the amount of plastic waste that we put in the trash.

Hi Anabelle, I like your opinion about the trash problem produced by us human.
I totally agree with you as the plastic problem is a big environmental issue. We should learn better to recycle all the plastic and use alternative products such as biodegradable materials instead. In my family we always try to separate our garbage and bring it to the recycling center.

It's very unfortunate how large the percentage of permanent plastic wastes fill up landfills. The idea of reusing basic plastic products is a very good idea, and it can prevent large amounts of carbon emission. For me, any opportunity of being able to reuse goods instead of throwing them away is a valuable one, and I believe that there should be more awareness on doing so.

I agree that its important that we reuse items. I love the idea of a refill station for laundry detergents. I think that all major city's should have a station that way we can cut back on plastic waste.
