Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My total carbon footprint is 24,527 kgs. My total is above the average of the region, and the class average. The majority of my carbon footprint came from Transportation with 17,958 kgs. My results were way higher than I was expecting, I didn’t realize I spent so much on transportation. I learned to be more conservative with what I drive and when I drive, maybe walking isn’t always a bad thing. To decrease my carbon footprint in the future would just be to carpool or walk even, maybe not use so much electricity by turning off lights and opening up windows.
