Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

A Better City
To create a sustainable city, I think we need to become more eco-friendly. Getting rid of plastic should be the first step because all it does is end up in the ocean. The bottles we buy should be made out of compostable things because we can create compost really easily. Another thing is to make eco-friendly cars. Cars like hummers that release too much C02 are bad for the environment. People should drive cars more like a prius, or electric cars.
I agree about the cars. According to this website about eco-friendly cars and the growth in sales, the industry in increasing it's sales by large percentages, so I think as a whole, our world is moving towards a more eco-friendly environment, but there are still many things that are problematic.

I agree with you about getting rid of plastic but I think that the hardest of your plan part would be getting people involved. The first step should be organizing an event that would make people aware of the change then having everyone reduce the amount of plastic they use bit by bit.
I agree! For the world to be more eco-friendly would decrease our CO2 footprint. Plastic is a good way to start, Plastic contains lots of chemicals in it based on an article that I read. In the end, plastic ends up in the ocean which then makes the ocean have deadly chemicals which kills the fish and makes for less food. Eco-friendly cars is also a good idea because then the air will not be polluted with the gas that we put in the cars. Overall just by doing something little can make a big change!
I agree, too. Plastic does not help the environment at all. It is produced by factories and most of it is used once and then ends up on the streets and in the water. I think that we have made a big step by not having plastic bags in the supermarkets and having to pay for paper bags because it makes people stop and think first. If we could stop the production of all disposable plastic items, that would be lovely. Also, I suggest keeping plastic bags from newspapers and wherever else you get them from. If you have a dog you can use it for dog poop collecting. If you do not have a dog or you have more than you need for picking up poop, you can bring them to Safeway and they recycle them. We need to keep plastic to a minimum and definitely keep it out of the ocean.
