Geothermal energy
An interesting idea for renewable energy I thought was what if we used geothermal energy as an energy source. Scientists have proven there are plenty of places we could get this heat from on the west coast alone, and it is a clean and renewable source, and it is very easily accessed

That would be good but its very expensive upfront.
True, but according to energyhomes.com, there are a lot of benefits to installing this type of system, including a tax rebate and adding value to your home. In addition they have long lifespans of up to 23 years
Using the heat of the earth can be a great energy source, but it does have its disadvantages. It is a nondepletable energy source, which makes it favorable, but complications can occur in the process of acquiring this heat, such as the release of polluting gases from the earth. The building of the facility can come with great expense both monetarily and environmentally. Since the locations are very specific of where these facilities can be set up, their construction can result in deforestation or habitat loss along with other environmentally devastating effects.
