Emily: Mooresville, NC USA (Age 16)
My total carbon footprint is approximately 28,897 kg which is definitely above average in nearly every aspect. The majority of my carbon footprint is taken by transportation which totaled at nearly 20,300 kg. I was surprised at how much I use compared to the average person because I never realized how often I am traveling. I am constantly on planes and driving to other states. This taught me to be mindful of my actions because they truly do impact the environment in a negative way. In the future, I will take the steps necessary to be more eco-friendly by carpooling and cutting back on how much I travel. I can also share what I have learned to my peers so that they too might be more mindful.
