Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

carpool, take short showers, solar panels
walk places if it is a reasonable distance,
Or bike
i do agree aidan that we should find ways to conserve our energy such as finding people to carpool with or instead of taking cars to places try walking, or as you said jett, biking.
Doing all of these things, like car pooling/riding a bike and taking short showers, is a great idea, although I lack in doing so. I do take 10 to 15 minute showers sometimes, but I don't know if you would call that short?
All of these are great Ideas, especially carpooling. When people carpool it means you are keeping at least one more car off the road and keeping it from poluting. Also solar panels are great forms of renewable energy that has almost no effect on the environment.
Another benefit of carpooling is you get to be in the carpool lane on the freeway. This lane tends to move faster. So, carpooling is not only beneficial to the environment, it is also time efficient.
i agree to take short showers and solar panels. Also we can take public transportation.
I agree Aidan, these are all great ways to reduce our carbon footprint!
Also, people miss this idea a lot, but if a person keeps their cars tires inflated all the time, they could improve their gas milage substancially. This way we are not burning as much CO2 and keeping the environment more sustainable.
I agree taking shorter showers and carpooling are great ways to preserve our environment by lowering our carbon footprint.
Matthias, you have a rally good point. It's not always the gas but the tires!
That is a really good point Matthias made because a trend in mine and other peoples carbon foot prints are that they have the most carbon usuage from tranportation. The solar panels is a good point also. I noticed that my carbon foot print at home was lower then other peoples because of the fact we have solar panels.
I believe we do not need to take showers.
According to Home Water Works the average shower is 8.2 minutes, using 17.2 gallons of water, which is a ton. Since I live in California, we can see that showers can have a big impact on water use and the drought. The ideal shower time according to Science Opposing Views is 5 minutes with about 10.5 gallons of water used. Imagine how much water would be saved if this was the length of showers everyone took! Try 5 minute showers and help save water.!
I agree taking faster showers will help fight against the terrible drought in California. Taking short showers around 5 minutes should be ideal. Currently the average shower length is 8 minutes. This simple act of reducing your average shower length will help save gallons of water which flows at an average of 2.1 gallons per minute! Another simple way to shorten your shower time is to turn the water off while you wash up, then turn it back on to rinse off. So the next time you take a shower, remember to use this simple step to help save water and help put end to California's drought.
For me I usually take me and my friends everywhere so that we don't us up as much gas and so we out footprint is a little bit smaller. I also try and take 5 minute showers so I don't use that much water.
