Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

Basic cutbacks
I think there is so much we can do to reduce our carbon footprints. If I was the mayor and original designer of a city I would make all transportation either public, carpool, or motor less vehicles like bikes or skateboards. This would limit the amount of co2 and ultimately keep air healthier and cleaner for wildlife and general health. Reducing shower times and over all water use can help immensely. According to water.usgs.gov, the average amount of water used per day is between 80-100 gallons. This is a shocking statistic and just further proves how wasteful we are. In conclusion, basic cutbacks can do a lot to reduce our individual carbon footprints and create a more sustainable city, wherever you are.
i agree and disagree. I agree with the transportation goals but I disagree with parts of the shorter showers because how can you measure the water usage in other peoples houses.
I agree with haleyw. The transportation goals are good and realistic. However, like Haley said monitoring the water usage in homes would probably be very difficult. A simpler solution might be to cut off all sprinklers on the days that the weather is rainy. This would be simpler to do and probably just as effective since Americans waste about 265 gallons an hour by turning on their sprinklers according to the Scientific American article in this link. https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti … r-wasters/
