Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

Live more Green
I think we should find more efficient ways to live in our everyday life. One way is to take shorter showers. If we cut back our showers by just a few minutes we would be making a bigger difference than we think. Another way is to carpool. By carpooling we are cutting down on all the unnecessary fuels in the air. We could also make it a habit to turn off the lights and unplug the things we are not using. This will help save energy and make a more sustainable planet.
I completely agree. I think many people take action with taking shorter showers and carpooling to school or sports practices, but a lot of people forget about turning off the lights. By leaving the lights in rooms on we are using so much excess energy that we really do not need. It is really quite simple to turn the lights off when you leave the room yet so many people forget. I was recently at my friends house and saw that the bathroom and hallway lights were always on even when no one was there. I think that keeping our energy use level as low as possible is very important for a sustainable city.
In big cities it can also be tremendously helpful to rely on the public transportation provided instead of driving everywhere. Catching the bus instead of driving to work and school by itself can almost eliminate any carbon emission you're contributing through transportation.
I totally agree, but I think taking shorter showers, carpooling, etc. are just the beginning. People are already doing these things to help the environment, but even though many people have already been doing them there hasn't seemed to be a great change. Which is why I believe an even greater difference can be made if we switch the means of electric power we use. What I mean by this is that if we ,as a population, switch to more environmentally friendly ways of producing power ,such as, by hydro, solar, or wind means less fossil fuels will be burned and our world will be less polluted, also lowering the average carbon footprint.
Ariana I agree with all your methods of living a more sustainable life. I think that composting, using paper cups and plates rather than foam, bringing reusable bags while you shop, and using a reusable water bottle are some other ways that could contribute to living more sustainably. Paper is compostable and easier to breakdown in comparison to foam. Bringing reusable bags lessens the usage of paper and plastic bags, which lessens the consumption of paper and the manufacturing of plastic. Using a reusable water bottle decreases the production of plastic water bottles.
