Sustainable City

Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.

What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

A sustainable environment is essential and there are many ways to keep a city sustainable. For example, growing food organically and having a localized food production reduces the amount of green house gases emitted from transportation and fertilizers. Using solar energy will reduce the amount of energy and electricity being used. Likewise, Electric cars would be more sustainable because it releases less C02 and saves money as well. Any key localization would make a city more sustainable.

I agree, by promoting local food growth and renewable energies, we dramatically decrease the amount of greenhouse gas emissions. I think that investing in renewable energies is the key to a more sustainable future, because it helps the environment while also promoting job growth. It also would decrease our dependency on foreign exports, so potentially all of our energy could come from here in the United States. We are a long way from that goal, but we must make steps in order to ensure a healthy environment for future generations.

You could put the solar panels on the sides and roofs of the skyscrapers, and maybe somewhere on roads or sidewalks, if they were made strong enough to hold a person or cars weight.
