Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

Sustainable City
No city can be perfectly sustainable, but there are ways to make it more sustainable. There could be a restriction to only using electric cars, because they eliminate the burning of coal, which eliminates the emission of fossil fuels into our atmosphere. But, the main way of transportation would be electric busses. This would reduce the burning of fossil fuels even more because the bus can hold more people than a car. If someone were to use they car as transportation, they would have to carpool and has at least 3 people minimum in the car. Another attribution to the sustainable city would be the addition of many parks or green areas throughout the city to release more oxygen into the atmosphere.

I agree with you! There are many things that we can do to make cities more sustainable. According to http://www.cartalk.com/content/global-w … your-car-0 , an average car emits six tons of CO2 per year. Using an electric car can cut down the amount of CO2 emissions that go into our atmosphere. If you don't own an electric car, buses are another great option! Buses save about 13,999,999 tons of CO2 from being releases into the atmosphere per ride. Buses are also much cheaper since you don't have to pay for gas and bus rides are usually about a dollar or two. Carpooling is a fun and sustainable way to travel from place to place. Carpooling saves a ton of CO2 because it saves trips in a car. If you are close to your destination, walking or biking are the most sustainable ways to travel. They don't release CO2 emissions and are great ways to get exercise!
These ideas are great, but in order to implement these programs successfully, we need to get residents more active in their communities. Governing.com says that only around 25% of Americans have attended a public meeting in the last twelve months. Before we implement the sustainable roads, parks, etc., we need to get people to really be active in the implementation of these features like attending meetings or helping to fund them (because they are relatively expensive).
