Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

Sustainable City
The first step towards sustainability is making necessary sacrifices. While it would be ideal, completely losing reliance on fuels is not realistic. Instead, we will need to make our changes gradually. If I was in the position of a city planner, I would start by making the energy sources in my city renewable. By creating a nuclear power plant, windmills outside of the city, hydroelectric generators, and heavily investing in solar panels, we will be making the first crucial steps towards sustainability. To follow that up, I will heavily invest in planting trees and creating space for parks. Not only will these help the environment, but once people see the wonders of nature, they might take a more active goal in saving the environment. In that same vein of thought, I will also increase education and awareness on the environment. To prevent emissions from vehicles, I will greatly promote public transportation by investing in electric trains and creating paths for bik ing. Finally, I will institute a tax on major gas emitters and also tax plastic bag purchasing at grocery stores. All of these funds will go back to my environmental budget.
