Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?
Sustainable City >
Prevention is the Best Solution
In an article by Olive Heffernan, it states, "To avoid it, we need emissions to peak as soon as possible – preferably by 2020 – before making their way to zero by about 2070." This quote says that soon, we need to either find a way to decrease in emissions or remove CO2 from the atmosphere. In Paris, they strive for the increase in temperature to stay below 2 degrees Celsius. This article also states that about 50 gigatons of CO2 are being emitted every year. This idea of a sustainable city should include hard working scientists that are completely focused on lowering emissions and finding a way to remove CO2.
