Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

Sustainable City
An ideal city should support and encourage walking, biking, or busing places. To do this, bike paths, clean and tree-lined sidewalks, and a reliable bus or train schedule would help. Also, adding solar panels to big buildings or on houses could help lower the number of fossil fuels used for heating or light. To help power a city, as solar panels are not enough, wind or water power would be useful to power homes or offices.
These sound like some really great ideas to help create a sustainable city. Encouraging public transportation and walking to our destinations instead of driving individually would cut down CO2 emissions greatly. Additionally, I like your point about adding solar panels to houses and other buildings. Encouraging solar panels and making them at a cheaper price for all citizens would add more sustainable energy sources to every home and allow us to decrease the outrageous amount of fossil fuels we burn by a significant amount. In my city, adding to your point, I would use biofuel plantations and wind farms to use more renewable sources of energy. Instead of burning coal or digging for oil which harms to the environment and air quality, my city would have cleaner air because of its use of renewable sources of energy. I would also have an intricate bus and subway system throughout my city to ensure that all citizens can take public transportation instead of using their cars. Using buses to take large groups of people would cut down our CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions a great deal. Around my city, as well, I would encourage the citizens to do simple tasks such as turn off their water when they are brushing their teeth, turn out the lights when they leave their rooms, and take shorter showers. If every citizen worked together to fulfill these simple requests, we would soon start to notice a large difference in the amount of water we waste and the number of greenhouse gases we emit. Reminding everyone to stay smart about their resource usage would make the city a greener and more enjoyable place. These changes combined with your bright ideas would make for an all-around amazing city!
