Here's your chance not just to be the mayor, but the original city planner as well! Imagine a medium sized city that would be developed with modern, low carbon transportation in mind, and other strategies to reduce the average citizens' carbon footprints.
What would that city look like? Would that make you more likely to want to live there?

My Sustainable City
If I were to design a low carbon footprint sustainable city, there would be three major things to focus on. The first is Transportation. I would make the roads more bike friendly than car friendly by having a maximum of 2 bike lanes and 1 car lane per street. I would also have many electric car charging stations powered by wind turbines and solar panels to promote electric cars if any. The second thing to focus on is housing. I would put a limit on ac units, electrical and gas powered utilities. I would give a tax return to anyone who installs low flush toilets and who has the least costly energy bill. The final thing to focus on is waste. I would create a policy that every store either uses recycled paper or plastic for their products (instead of regular plastic). I would also charge fines for anyone who goes over a limit for the amount of waste they put in their landfill per month. By doing all of these things, I believe the city would have a very small carbon footprint. Does anyone else have Ideas how to make the city more eco-friendly?
I agree with the ideas you stated to reduce a cities carbon footprint. Another idea that could also lower the carbon footprint dramatically would be to have more public transportation that runs off clean energy. These buses and trains would be solar powered or electric. Having cleaner energy public transportation can help reduce the carbon footprint because these buses and trains usually emit a majority of the carbon in the atmosphere, but having them become solar and electric powered can reduce tons of carbon getting released.
