Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Rachel M(USA)
My name is Rachel May I attend SJRS College located in Orange Park, FL. My total carbon footprint is 9934 kgs of Carbon per year, compared to an average of 13115 kgs for Florida residents, the United States, and 3791 kg worldwide. After exploring my carbon footprint I noticed that I need to make some lifestyle changes mainly with transportation and food. To reduce my footprint with transportation I'm going to make an effort to start carpooling and combining trips. In the food category it was interesting to see that a simple reduction of my meat intake and increase of my vegetable intake will reduce my kgs per year. I know by making these lifestyle adjustments I will help lower my carbon footprint.

I am very shocked to see that your foot print is significantly lower that the average in your state. This means that you are paying attention to how you affect the environment and you are having a positive effect. Keep up the good work!
I am surprised your carbon footprint is much lower than the regional average and to mine. We are both below our regional averages, but you are doing a better job than me. You are doing a great job in keeping your carbon emissions down and protecting the environment. I think your ideas for reducing it are good and well thought out, even if they aren't entirely needed. But the lower you can get it that's great!
I think that your carbon footprint is very good compared to your region. I am also below my regions average and a lot. I think that your efforts to reduce your carbon footprint will effect your footprint in a positive way and I hope that it works out. I should try some of the things you are going to try to do. I hope you can lower your footprint to the level you want it to be.
I had the same problem in that my transportation was very high. I plan to have my friends all ride in one car instead of riding in three separate cars. I think when I do this my carbon footprint will over all lower itself. I think that if you have more fruits and vegetables as snacks than you will be fine. I think that you are doing really good at keeping your ecological footprint down.
I was surprised to see that your footprint was smaller than that of Florida. I like how you mentioned that eating less meat and more vegetables is a small way to reduce your footprint.
