Hello my name is Andri and I live in Selfoss, Iceland. We use geothermal power to heat up our houses, while farmers and houses in the country side use electrical power. We have a volcano eruption in Iceland called Holuhraun, and there's a lot of gas polution in the air that is causing health problems in Iceland, and we have another volcano that erupted a few years ago, Eyjafjallajökull and that was very big because all flights in Europe weren't able to fly because of all the ash in the air. My carbon footprint was slightly above average and the average in Iceland is 7.9 tons per capita. I would love to hear from someone else in the world and share his/her thoughts on student footprints!!

This is a great opportunity to get the chance to discuss with students from all around the world. I think it is really crazy how you use geothermal power for energy, because I don't think I know anyone personally that uses geothermal power, also very interesting about how the volcanoes are causing problems with air pollution.

Hello Andri! It's really interesting that you use geothermal energy there. We don't have any volcanoes around here, so none of our pollution is from volcanoes. Our carbon footprints were very different! While yours was above average, mine was a little below.

I didn't know people in Selfoss, Iceland used geothermal power to heat up their homes. That is very interesting and a great way to preserve energy! I believe different countries should mirror this method of distributing energy. I also had no idea volcanoes were affecting the cleanliness of the air in Iceland. It's even more shocking to hear that flights got delayed due to the ash in the air. It is a very different lifestyle in Iceland comparison to North Carolina.

Learning that people actually use geothermal power to heat up their homes is really interesting. I think it's an efficient way to save energy  in the would. Maybe if other countries could start using this there wouldn't be as much energy and carbon used. It's very astonishing to see to know how an eruption could delay the flights.
