Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Julia: Mooresville, NC, USA (Age 16)
My name is Julia, I’m 16 years old, and I’m from Mooresville, North Carolina, USA. My carbon footprint totaled 8,324 kgs, which amounts to about half of my region’s average. The majority of my footprint is instigated by the means in which I live at home: recycling, water usage, etc. I was surprised by this as myself and my family especially stress doing the best for the world we live in, but from this I’ve learned that constantly recycling and eating less animal products would drastically reduce my footprint and thus enhance the condition of our environment.
Hi Julia, I'm also 16 and live in Mooresville, North Carolina USA. It's great that you have such a low carbon footprint, almost half compared to your region is awesome! My carbon footprint was 14,571 kilograms and thats almost double the amount that you had. Most of my carbon emissions came from transportation, but I didn’t realize how much of my carbon footprint could be cut down by doing simple things like recycling and conserving water. In the future I will definitely try to recycle more and pay better attention to how much water I actually use to see if I can cut back.
Hey Julia. My carbon footprint is also lower compared to my region. The majority of my footprint also comes from my home. I think it’s great that your family does their best for the environment and my own tries to do the same by recycling and saving energy.
