Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Morgan H Reducing my Home Carbon Footprint

Mholestin

My home is fairly large, and since I can not reduce the size of my house I can reduce the amount of energy my family and I are using, Ive decided that in the winter time we are going to use more blankets in the winter to cut down on the amount of heat we use. We are also going to open windows on cool summer days to reduce our A/C usage. Water is constantly used in my house, so we have all agreed to take an average of fifteen minutes in the shower at the most, or if we are taking baths, only filling the tub half way up. Dishes also are important, we need to wait until all the dishes are soapy then rinse them off at the same time, or do one at a time, but no constant running water to rinse a couple forks. My power bill is not high, but on the way to reducing my house carbon footprint, I may be saving some money!
