Sarah's Carbon Footprint
Hello! My name is Sarah and I am from Mooresville, North Carolina in the United States. I am 16 years old. I have a high carbon footprint when compared to my regional average. My total footprint is 27,068 kgs. The majority of my carbon footprint consists of transportation. I travel a lot which is probably why my transportation footprint is so high at 19,495 kgs.
I am not surprised that the majority of my footprint is from transportation. I can reduce my footprint by carpooling with others.
Your post was quite interesting! The majority of my carbon footprint also consists of transportation. We have that in common! Based on other posts, it seems that a lot of people's carbon footprint lists transportation as being the majority. People are in the car more often then they realize. Do you think we are in the car more than we should be? Overall, you had good points!
My carbon footprint was also high for my region. Traveling for summer vacations and around for work, friends, and school also made my carbon footprint rise. Seeing that the problem for most people is transportation I believe that ways to reduce the amount of transportation by cars especially should be something we discuss throughout this project.
Just like most everyone else here, I also had a high transportation footprint. I personally think this happens in the USA and even more in the south due to the car to eligible driver ratio being very high. This means that there are more people driving than in other regions therefor explaining the high transportation footprint most people in our region have
I am in the same position! My carbon footprint was a little lower than the national average, though i expected it to be much higher. However, the majority of my footprint was due to a recent Europe trip. Normally i would never have made such a trip but because it was made in the last 12 months it went into my calculations. Because of this trip, my transportation carbon footprint made up for about 1/2 my total footprint.
I have the same problem. Transportation is also a majority of my carbon footprint. Carpooling is a good idea and I am also going to try and do that more. It would be easy to carpool because a lot of people are going to the same places.
