Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

EBURR USA carbon footprint

Laine48

My carbon footprint is 51,173 kgs compared to the 13,115 kgs average for my region. For all of the areas except transportation I was below average. The average for my region in transportation is 3,447 kgs. My average is 45,868 kgs. So that's extremely bad. I go to school and work just about everyday. I live about 30 minutes away from that area. And when I'm not at work or in school I go out with friends a lot and we spend a lot of time driving. To reduce my carbon footprint I'm thinking about moving closer to the area where I work and go to school. Or getting a car with better gas mileage.
