Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Importance and Struggle of Recycling

keerf16

When I was looking at my results for my carbon footprint, I noticed that I did not have a lot of kilograms of carbon in the section about products. I believe this is because I recycle everything I can. I also don't buy a lot of new devices each year. It interested me that, by just recycling, you can reduce your footprint by a huge amount. Compared to the national average for the US, my product section was miniscule. What do you think makes people not recycle everything they can? I've noticed at my school, we have a lot of trouble getting everyone to sort their trash into the correct bins. What do you think would encourage people to try to sort their trash correctly?
