Hello everyone! My name is Giselle and I am from Jacksonville, FL. My overall carbon footprint was a whopping 17,933 kg of CO2 per year. Compared to the my region's footprint, which was 13,115 kg of CO2, I was above average. It is definitely a surprise! I lived in Germany for two years before moving back to the US last year. I learned a few tricks to becoming more environmentally friendly over there. For example, in Germany it was required that you sort your trash into plastic, paper, biodegradable, glass, and miscellaneous. I still sort my trash and try my best to be environmentally conscious but it looks like I still have some work to do! I found a website with some tricks that may help me and I thought I'd share! The URL is http://cotap.org/reduce-carbon-footprint/ . The website is for an organisation called Carbon Offsets to Alleviate Poverty. Their mission is to counteract our carbon emissions through the implementation of reforestation projects in less developed countries. These reforestation projects provide jobs for individuals in less developed countries, comba ting poverty and CO2 emissions at the same time. Plus they provided 25+ Tips to help us reduce our carbon footprints! Pretty cool! 
Hi my name is Rachel. My total footprint was 14,453kgs as compared to my region's 15,918kgs. The tricks used in Germany definitely sound useful! That's awesome that they require the separation of trash like that to help the environment out. It's really great that you try to sort trash! I definitely need to work on lowering my footprint as well, and my transportation specifically. My transportation is my highest category at 5,500kgs. Thanks for the link on tips to reduce our footprints. It looks really helpful, and I am going to try my best to utilize some of the tips on there!
Hi Giselle, my name is Emily and I am from North Carolina. My carbon footprint was well above yours and totaled at approximately 28,000kgs. I was definitely well above my region's average and it definitely made me realize how much of an impact one person can have on the environment. I find it very interesting that it is required to sort your trash in Germany and that is definitely something that would be extremely useful in the United States.
