Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

China Carbon Footprint
Compare to the average Chinese people, my carbon footprint is much higher than the others. And the most carbon footprint was came from transportation. So I want to do some changes: First, I will go outside by walking or riding bike as much as possible instead of taking bus or car. Second, I will turn off the lights when I leave my bedroom and also my house. Third, I will shorten the time for showering.
My carbon footprint was also high compared the the average in North Carolina. Most of my footprint also comes from transportation, because I drive to see relatives every year. Do you live somewhere where you can walk and bike to get places? In Mooresville where I live it is difficult to get around on a bike without riding down the highway.
My carbon footprint was lower than average in North Carolina. Majority of my footprint also came from transportation. This is because I've been on multiple flights and drive a lot. The big problem where I live is it's dangerous to walk/bike to the areas you're trying to get to.
I think that out of all the things you plan to reduce your carbon foot print would be shortening the showering time. The reason for this is because it is just hard to do. I have also tried shortening the time it takes me to shower and I haven't been able to do it.
My carbon footprint compared to those of the average in North Carolina is pretty high. But like you, mine mainly came from transportation as well. So hopefully I can start to carpool, and lessen the amount of driving I do. Riding bike or walking is a great idea to save transportation! I know where I live that would be pretty dangerous to do, because I don't live close to the important places I go in town. So you should definitely take advantage of that!
I think its such a great idea to ride your bike or walk places. The exercise is good for you anyway! I try my best to ride my bike places when I can. That way you are doing two good things! Helping the environment and helping your health!
Your ideas for reducing your carbon footprint are great. My footprint is also quite high on the transportation side. Walking and biking more will help reduce the amount of pollution from your car and also provide good exercise. Turning off the lights when you leave a room will conserve energy and taking shorter showers will allow you to save water and better help the environment. Great ideas!
The three ways you are going to decrease your carbon footprint are really good. Walking or riding a bike instead of taking the bus or car if you can will decrease your carbon footprint the most but the other two ways are good as well.
