Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Hi, I am 16 and am from Mooresville, North Carolina. My total carbon footprint was 16,785 kgs, transportation contributing the most with 9,567 kgs. For my region, this was about the same. For the world it was much higher, which would be because in America we use a lot of unnecessary transportation, electricity, water and other "luxuries". I expected my footprint to be about the same as the people around me, and also knew it would be much higher than the world average. For the future I plan to try to ride my bike as many places as I can, and use less electricity.
HI Alexia, my footprint was also higher than people around the world while transportation was my highest energy used. I think that riding bikes and public transportation can help with this issue. Also we need to realize how much energy we use to have an idea on how much we need to stop using so much energy and try and help the environment.
