Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Mr Carbon Footprint

OK so I might need to start decreasing my showering time and maybe turn off the light when I'm taking shower. Maybe try to go out less or go out with public transportation more. And recycle water more! Maybe try not to go out by airplane......
My result is a shame I think. I always think the people who are hurting the environment should feel very ashamed of themselves bur now it seems like I'm the one who should be ashamed.

I think transportation has had the biggest effect on everyones carbon footprint, so if you really want to improve your footprint that would probably be the way to go. I also need to decrease the amount of driving I do.

I had the same reaction when I saw my carbon footprint. My carbon footprint was much high than I had expected it to be. My entire family tends to view ourselves as fairly environmentally conscious, but we failed to acknowledge how bad air travel is.  Transportation has the potential to make or break your carbon footprint. Though, it is good that you are being attentive to how you can reduce your footprint.

This discussion has changed a lot of people's views on their Carbon Footprint. There are many ways to lower your footprint, especially transportation. You can start carpooling more, turning off the water when not in use, and definitely recycling!

I completely agree with you that people are taking advantage of our environment and we all have room to decrease our carbon footprint! Transportation is a big issue as well. Maybe carpooling would decrease that! Recycling is also a great idea! A lot of people have room to recycle and it's easy to do so! Great perspective.

I've been pretty good with my carbon footprint minus transportation but I am trying to do the same by decreasing it even farther through decreased consumption and better environmentally friendly practices. Good luck with reducing your footprint.
