Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

How to reduce your carbon footprint with your car!

guattt

Here's a fun site you guys can visit and see many other ways to reduce your carbon footprint. Specifically, I want to show how to reduce your carbon footprint with your car! By walking to your destination if it's within walking distance is great! You can get awesome exercise and save gas money! It's a triple win-win-win! If you have to drive though, you can drive smoothly by not accelerating like crazy so you can release less CO2 into the air. It also helps with your MPG making it go higher therefore making your gas expense go lower. This is another win-win situation. Check out the link for more great ideas!

I think this is a great way to reduce your footprint! We should never become complacent and should always look for better ways to help the environment. I didn't think about unplugging electronics that aren't being used and I will definitely try to become more conscious about that from now on. Thanks for the awesome ideas!!

It's awesome that you are trying to make a difference by walking more instead of driving. Walking is a great way to cut down your carbon footprint as well as the cost of gas. I also like the triple win-win-win idea.

This is something different that I haven't thought about how much I accelerate versus when I'm just coasting in my car. I'll be sure to take this into consideration and stop accelerating so much! I walk a lot when I have the option to walk somewhere. Things are spread out here, and it makes it difficult to walk from location to location. It's still possible though!
