Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

China [Reflection on Carbon Foootprint]
I think the compares between my carbon footprint to the average Chinese person's footprint was out of my guessing. My footprint data way more above average person footprint, maybe because of they count every person in it when they were calculated it. What I notice was that the green idea in our mind, we do in our life was not even green from average. Which means we are polluting CO2 every day, but still thinking it was ok to do so. Without noticing the true of the amount CO2, we were really giving out. Things we need to consider is what we can do to reach true sustainability.
Some change I could do base on my data will be like decreasing my flying times when I was out travelling. Or go to some closer place. Trying not to use a heater or air condition so frequently in winter or summer. And sometimes of biking could be better than taking the bus.
I really like your ideas for changing your lifestyle. Travel really does increase your carbon footprint. In my house, we use the heater and air conditioner A LOT! So I'm gonna have to work on that too!
I noticed that China was very different from the United States on the carbon footprint scale. China obviously produces a lot of CO2 along with many other countries. I also was well above the carbon footprint for not only my area but my country. I would think that the USA and China have different context. For example, the United States uses much more transportation than any other country that I know of. From what your post says you travel a lot and that is very similar to the United States. I believe we can both do better and decrease our carbon footprint while still enjoying what we do.
Hey there, my name is Catherine and I am from Fl, USA. My carbon footprint was below the average in my region but I would still like the reduce it. My home was by far the worst way that I wasted energy. I like that you still are pushing towards decreasing your travel times and trying to reduce your use of heat and air in your home. Biking would be hard for me because I am constantly working or at school and I like further out in the country, miles away from my destinations but I like your suggestions. Thanks for the read!
Good luck!
Hi, I'm Noelle from the USA. My carbon footprint was actually below my regions average, but I still agree that people need to reach sustainable footprints around the world. I'm also going to try partake in lifestyle changes that could help lower my footprint, especially in food, since thats my highest category at the moment. Transportation is already small for me, so I'm going to try to maintain that aspect of my footprint. I'm going to scale down my heating/cooling at home, too.
You have some good ideas for reducing your footprint. I feel like most of the footprints I have seen from China are over average. Cutting back on your traveling would defiantly lower your footprint.
What other sources of energy could be used lik solar, wind or geothermal?
Decreasing your flying time will really help decrease your carbon footprint overall. Walking or riding a bike instead of taking a bus or car is a good daily activity that will help decrease your carbon footprint also.
