Thought My Carbon Footprint Would Be Better
Greetings from Florida in the USA ! My name is Megan and I'm 25. I always thought I was pretty conscience of the environment and the impact I was having on it. I recycle, grew a garden, and have gotten pretty good at turning everything off when I leave home. For the most part, my footprint was below average in all areas except TRAVEL. Over the spring, I was able to visit Greece, and I failed to realize how much of a carbon footprint has on traveling by airplane. So, in return, my footprint was extremely high compared to the average in Florida (mine was almost 29,000 compared to 13,000 for the average American).
This definitely needs to be an issue that needs to be addressed. On my next travels, I will look into the different airline companies and research on how they are dealing with carbon dioxide emissions.
Hi Megan! I believe we all try to be conscious of our environmental impact. Traveling around the world to accomplish your dreams does have an effect on your carbon footprint, but you shouldn't let this bring you down. The world is slowly learning about climate change and what human activities have done to our planet. Being able to see Greece is like having the ability to see the world from a set of primitive eyes. You have seen what humanity once was and what society is able to accomplish without destroying everything around us. If only more people were conscious of their surroundings and we relied less on unnecessary technology, the world may be able to save itself.

Hi Megan! Most of my carbon footprint comes from travel as well. I travel a considerable amount both weekly and throughout the year. I didn't realize how much of an impact my travels have on the environment. I am going to try to carpool when possible and also travel with airline companies that are environmentally considerate and conscious.
