Carbon Emissions in the Future

askuryla

Many people have looked back at our carbon emissions in the past, but what will they look like in ten or twenty years from now? According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, if we keep going at this rate, it doesn't look good. Based on 2011 and 2012 emissions, a chart was generated calculating an estimate of carbon emissions by year all the way up to 2040. This chart shows the Energy- Related Carbon Dioxide Emissions by End Use, or all carbon emissions caused by residential, commercial, and manufacturing in the U.S. per year. In 2018, four years from now, it is projected that there will be a total of 418 metric tons of carbon emissions. This is a change of 20 metric tons in only four years. In 10 years, in 2024, it is estimated that there will be 462.5 metric tons of carbon emissions in the United States, and in 20 years, in 2034, the estimate is that there will be 502.3 metric tons of carbon emissions, a change from this year of over 84 metric tons. Seeing these projections, I can understand how something needs to change to prevent this from happening, or the re can be consequences in the future.

You can see the projections made by the EIA at this page. http://www.eia.gov/oiaf/aeo/tablebrowse … 4-d102413a
