Local Reach

One thing I think people can do to inform others about the climate crisis and what we can do to work towards sustainability is reach out more to our local communities, whether that’s a school wide, or citywide initiative.  This forum for example is getting so many people from places all around the world to discuss and become involved in this subject.  I think though it’s important to remember to take home what we’ve learned and share it with others who may not have access to these methods of learning and involvement.  When we can teach others about what we know about a subject, we not only inform them, but we give them the tools to become involved with their own opinions in an issue, or solution.  An example of this is at my school, Bishop O’Dowd, there is an organization called Sustainability Corps which works towards educating the school community on environmental sustainability and how we can all contribute to a cleaner and greener Earth.  I think local communi ties like this can culminate into even greater networks of sustainability that contribute to the global initiative.
