Volkswagon Scandal

hansona16

Last month, Volkswagon, the word's largest automaker by volume, was accused of deliberately programming nearly 500,000 diesel cars to circumvent emissions standards. This cheater software is a tiny microchip that is implanted within the car. When the car goes through the EPA testing, the microchip changes the reading for the amount of pollutants emitted, therefore making it so the car passes the test. After passing, the car goes out into the world spewing out over 40 times the emissions than what the microchip showed. This despicable scandal may not only cost Volkswagon over 86 billion dollars, but it has also most likely impacted the environment in a massive way. 500,000 diesel cars were let out into the real world that were emitting pollutants way over the legal amount. That is sickening. We try to take steps toward creating a cleaner, greener world, then companies go and try to pull things like this. For what? For money? It's disgusting. I hope that the rest of  the world sees this scandal and is as angered by it as I am. I hope that this truly opens peoples eyes.
