Technology Disposal
Everyone is always wanting the latest technology out there. Every time Apple releases a new model of i-Phone, people tosses out their perfectly good phones to get the slightly better version, Where do you think your phone goes? All of these usable phones are going to landfills and add to the pollution that is already present. By not upgrading our technology every time that something new comes along, we can lower the amount of chemicals that seep into the ground.
Approximately 150 million phones alone, and with our old phones go, they don`t just disappear. They end up in landfills such as Ghana, India, and China. Many people including children burn up the waste to create different types of metals. Other children in India destroy batteries to get cadmium. But with the work they do they end up having toxic on their hands and arms. There are even YouTube videos showing very young children in these places taking in the smoke of the burnt materials. We throw out our old phones and get the latest brand every 22 months. But majority of the people do not know that those old phones end up in landfills which give a high risk of children there to inhale the bad smoke of our waste.
