Popularity of Solar

[Solar panel systems are now online in 1,000,000 homes!](http://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/ … ons-Strong) To quote Dan Whitten, vice president of communications at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), "It took us 40 years to get to 1 million installations, and it will take us only two years to get to 2 million". This sounds like incredible news for our planet. [Despite the increased demand for solar](http://oilprice.com/Alternative-Energy/ … Solar.html), in certain areas ([India](http://qz.com/557291/solar-power-looks- … a-by-2020/)) it looks as if by 2020 producing energy with solar will cost the same amount as producing energy with coal. This will help with making renewable energy available to less fortunate members of society, helping to change the fact that these people often live in the most polluted areas of our world. I think that clean electricity becoming ubiquitous would be a huge boon to conservation efforts as, accro ding to the [Energy Information Administration](http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=77&t=11), electricity accounts for about 37% of the United States' total pollution output. To help with this energy revolution, consider switching to solar for your electricity needs, or donation to nonprofits such as the [SunPower Foundation] or [GRID alternatives](http://www.gridalternatives.org/).
