Taking the Bus

alecar

Carpooling is a great way to stay sustainable when getting from point A to point B. Taking the bus is essentially just a huge carpool. Busses have been around forever, helping cities with public transportation and getting children to school. Taking the bus may not sound sustainable because it appears as a large gas guzzling machine, but in reality, a bus gives off less emission than a standard car (http://www.co2nnect.org/help_sheets/?op … ;opt_id=98). Busses also improve air quality by reducing overall vehicle pollution that creates smog. Taking all this into consideration, taking the bus may not seem like a option if you want to reduce your carbon emission. It may not give you the same amount of privacy or convenience that a car would at all times, but it is more sustainable to take the bus than to drive a car.

I like your idea of taking busses (and public transports in general). I go everyday to school by bus ( which is the PostBus in my case).
I would also add to your reflection that these types of vehicles are in continue progress to be more sustainable and produce less CO2.
In Switzerland for example (precisely in Aargau) the PostBus company is operating with five fuel cell eletric busses. I think this project is a great idea.

I know exactly what you mean! I take the PostBus at least once a day to go to school. Sometimes I have to use the car because I live a bit away from school but  as often as I can I try to use public transport which,as you said, reduce energy consumption and harmful carbon dioxide (CO2) greenhouse gas emissions that damage the environment. I suggest you to visit my profile because I've added a comment about the benefits of public transportation.

Taking the bus is could be a huge step to lowering your personal carbon footprint, and over all reduce the amount of CO2 being released into our atmosphere. This is especially important in cities, why take your own car when you could take the bus or even walk!  Walking is also huge, in New York City you could be stuck in a cab for over an hour just waiting to get a few blockes, when you could just walk, get there in half the time, and reduce your carbon footprint in the process.
