After comparing the United States carbon footprint and those of European countries like France and Spain, there is a noticeable difference between Home energy use, and purchases. Unfortunately the United states prefers larger homes that expend loads of energy, this cultural lifestyle is wasteful but difficult to change. In the area of purchases, the United States could improve with buying from thrift stores or wearing hand me downs, and by purchasing reusable items to limit waste.

It is crazy how much energy we use as Americans and we really could lower our usage, but no one really tries.

As Americans, we are more technologically advanced which is a factor for making our footprints higher. However, we really should try to find a way to conserve energy.

Americans have access to not only more technology, but more resources in general. This allows Americans to use a significant amount of resources, which we do. In the future we should try and cut back on the energy use.

Due to the drastic difference from the U.S.  carbon in the 10,000s and Europe in the 1,000, it is very surprising how much more carbon we produce than the people in Britain or Germany.

Since Americans have access to many different technologies, it's hard to be surprised by our total carbon footprint in comparison to other countries. This access and use of different technologies releases much more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than our neighboring countries. In response to this, we need to cut back on that level of carbon emissions.

After comparing footprints from around the world to mine it really made me think about how different our lives are compared to other people's. We function in completely different societies. It strikes me even how the Saint Joe's footprint is much higher than other schools just in America. It makes you realize how different out lives really are.

after seeing what surprised me one thing that surprised me was shopping the shopping part of my carbon footprint was lower than the average but i do get more than i need and i was almost positive my carbon footprint would be really high on shopping, however when i found how it was below i was shocked at how people in the US buy so many things they don't need. For example food about 1/5 of the things that go into my fridge come out rotten because i didn't need it.
