Since I’ve first looked at those topics other students are debating on, I realised that I’ve used lots of “little” things which have a big impact for our planet. After I calculated my carbon footprint, I confirmed myself that me and also my family are using a significant amount of energy and chemicals.  Since a few weeks ago, I’ve been trying to reduce my footprint, step by step, for example: having shorter showers; using the technology less and the most important, riding the vehicles like buses and cars less.
Let’s look a short view of the past, think about how people were living, what they were travelling with, what they were eating, how they were eating. There are a lot of differences, significant differences, between how we live now and how people used to.  Nowadays, changes could be made in the way we use our technology, because not what we use the technology is the main problem in our carbon footprint, but how we use it. For example, all the superstars are travelling to concerts, world tours, etc. I don’t think they realise, but they have a big impact for the plane t.

With all of these,  has everyone ever thought what could we do to reduce our carbon footprint? I think a lot of you did.

As a start, we could try to reduce the use of the gas, water (especially the hot water) and our car travels. It seems easy to be made, but, for a lot of us, the ones who are used to live with cars and technology, who have to travel long distances (For work, Emergencies, etc.) it’s a really hard work to get rid of those technologies.  What I really want to talk about is how we can get the consumption at a lower level and for us, teenagers, could be really easy if we would just think a little about the little things we could do to improve our planet.

On the other hand, we shouldn’t ignore the advices we get from elders about using the water and the technology less, because they can always be good for us, considering their experience in life.

I hope I helped you with this topic!

I partially agree with you, riding the car less, and trying to lessen your carbon footprint is important, but the public buses are still running, even if you don't use them, there are people that need them to go to work, or to school, so you can still use the public buses.

It really strikes me that so many people seem to travel or take a car everywhere. I know a lot of people live in the suburbs and such but it never really hit me that some people use their cars to get almost everywhere, Even for a simple trip to the mall or to buy groceries. But then again, different places have different locations and some people live pretty far from the cities so I cant say Im that surprised, but it certainly made me rethink how important location is in your carbon footprint.
