Disruptive Technologies

LucasFine

There have been many examples of disruptive technologies that have forced us to change the way we live as a society. For example, cars completely changed transportation. Many cities, such as New York, became almost completely reliant on them instead of horse-drawn carriages in barely a decade. If we could upgrade from gas-powered cars to electric cars as fast as we went from horse-drawn carriages to cars, we could significantly decrease our CO2 emissions very quickly. I have never heard the phrase "disruptive technologies" but I think it perfectly encompasses many different changes in society. One other example is the use of plastic! Plastic only became popular in the 1950's and yet we are incredibly reliant on it. What if we could find a way to upgrade from plastic to another kind of technology?

there are ways to make plastics from things that are more biodegradable such as some plants, but Big plastic corporations sadly find it less cost effective/productive

It’s sad that Biodegradables are less widely used. Even though they aren’t the best option, they’re SO MUCH better than plastics...☹️
