Locally made clothing

During the earth week assembly at our school a woman went up and discussed locally made clothing. She spoke about a woman's story on making her own clothing and how much it helps the environment. This subject really hit me. Locally made clothing or (even better) making your own clothing helps the environment because of transportation. Instead of going online and buying clothes that ship to your house from China, Vietnam, Italy, or anywhere far across the world, find a way to get some locally made clothes. Every time you buy something online from a site, it produces so much CO2 into our air because of that super far plane ride or those big shipping dates when instead of wasting your money on sites, you can go to the flee market or a garage sale and buy clothes for a way cheaper price. This only helps you. Yes, maybe you won't have the coolest outfit in school, but in the long run this will help the CO2 problem and save you tons of money.

That’s really cool and I think she is right. Plus if less and less people are making their own clothing there will be less and less pollution as well because maybe not as many factories will have to be running.

I agree and think this is a good idea. In addition to reducing the amount of transportation, you have the option to reuse materials to make the clothing. There should be more stores that sell clothes made out of recyclable and reusable items. I think that this would be a great way to make something new out of something old. Also, this gives people an opportunity to be creative and design something for other people to buy and wear. I think these stores should be in towns and cities all around the world. I think that this idea is a cheap, useful and effective way to decrease the amount of pollution from transportation.

I think thrifting is a good option for trying to not waste clothing. Many people don't do it because they think it's old and gross, but the thing is many of the clothes there are washed or clothes were thrown out since it's probably too big or too small, etc. I think if more people started thrifting the amount of pollution caused by throwing out clothes or the waste caused by making new ones will be reduced.

I think thrifting is a good alternative to buying new clothes. You can find many unique pieces that you won't see anywhere else. You can also but pieces strictly to customize yourself. This is not only a fun alternative but it also helps the environment. You can donate your own clothes so they don't go to waste or buy thrifted clothes for the same reason.
