Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Traveling by plane
I won't stop traveling by plane. The reason is that I love traveling and seeing new cities and countries. The world is so big, it would be a pity to continue seeing the photos on internet, instead of seeing it with our eyes. We have the honor of knowing it, why shouldn't we do it? I know, planes produce a lot of CO2, but this amount is shared by hundreds of people. For exemple Swiss is replacing its current planes with new planes, which save the 23% of CO2 emission.
I will pay more attention on the food I buy, seasonal fruit or local food, and on using less the car. The world is important and it became too sensible: let's save it, but let's also see it.
Hi Victor, my name is Alexa. I completely agree with you. It is virtually impossible for me to say that I will stop traveling by plane as well. Transportation was my biggest ecological impact by far thanks to how often I fly in planes. I am constantly traveling. Unlike you, unfortunately, I don't get to travel to see the world. I have to travel for sport related purposes. Though it makes me sad, there is not much I can do to change the fact that I am required to travel by plane fairly often. However, I think it's great that airlines, like the ones in Switzerland that you mentioned, are beginning to take notice of how much CO2 pollution they are creating, and are starting to make a difference!
Hi Victor, I am Howard. I cannot agree you more! Although transportation was not the biggest part of my footprint, I understand that how convenience it is to take a plane to some far places. I also think that the Carbon Calculator might go incorrectly because some data(food and transportation) seems crazy. Food is my biggest part, but I don't think I will be able to reduce it. Everybody need to eat a certain amount of food, doesn't it? The only thing I can change might be using less electricity and the the way the Calculator work...
I totally agree. Transportation was the biggest part on my carbon footprint. I travel by plane all the time because I visit my family members that live all around the world. So I can never stop traveling by plane. So because I can't reduce my transportation, I try to reduce the other things that effect my carbon footprint. Like taking shorter showers, carpooling, recycling, and all the other little things.
I totally agree with you Victor, I travel through plane a lot too, and that may be a huge part in our Carbon Footprints, but guess what? Its for a good reason. We fly to see family, to sight see, etc. There is a difference between us having a high carbon footprint for a reason, and us having it out of wastefulness, and yes, we can do other things to become less wasteful even if we can't reduce our transportation.
Hi Victor, I can't agree with your more. I like traveling too. Due to my carbon footprint data I also have a big problem in polluting CO2 while traveling by plane. It's a good news that Swiss is replacing for much cleaner plane to use. I also have some idea about traveling by plane. Maybe we can choose some place not so far to travel, or we can travel by train. Which will also give us another feeling while taking on a trip. Seeing all these beautiful sights passing through our eyes. That must be fun too.
