Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Energy home consumption
Nowadays the home consumption is very challenging as family tends to consume more energy and water than in the past.
It's becoming a very big problem against the vaste of energy.
So we decided to improve our green footprint by putting solars panels on the roof. These panels are very useful and they provide hot water for our needs. We've also have a heat pump that is covering all the needs for our floor heating. In order to reduce the electrical consumption we changed all our old fluorescent bulbs to more efficient one such as LED. This is our effort to save energy but we are still looking into an improvement for our green footprint. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi Airwing, I agree you idea too! You said we should putting solars panels on the roof and I think it is a good idea. Because as you know, solars panels can help us converts solar energy into electric energy then other finite energy can save. Also, we can use wind energy and water energy to replace chemical energy.
Hi, Airwing! It's always excited to meet new environmental advocates for me. I think you can share with us with the list of more specific examples of actions you have to save the environment in your home. For me, I use environmental-friendly products always. My parents always tell me to save the plastic bags every time I want to throw them into trash bin. And we balled up the plastic after until some time we need to use them. We bring our own bags when we go shopping in the supermarkets. My dad stores at least 3 Eco bags and numerous plastic bags on the rear box of his car in case he wants to pack up something. We eat organic vegetables and appropriate amount of meat. My father changed all our lights at home into either LED or fluorescent lamp 5 years ago. More strictly, he prohibits me of turning on the air conditioner at home on morning. Both for our safety and the awareness of environmental saving. I am really proud of my parents's series of solutions to reduce the release of carbon dioxide and the pollution. After all, as we cannot ask for others to do the same things as we do. Start with family members is not a bad choice!
Hi Jeremy, hello zoe. Thank you very much for your interesting comments and points of view!
Jeremy I'm happy that you agree with me and I like your point about wind energy! In my opinion our governments and the private industries should make more investments in this sector.
Zoe, your family's life sound very environmental-friendly! From now I'll follow some of your suggestions and I'll also talk about it with my family.
