Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Hi Gavin, looks like you have a fairly low footprint on a gflobal scale but a bit higher than the average person from China.  Any idea what contributes to your relatively high home category footprint?

gavinn

Maybe it is cause from the usages of the electronics. In China, we use the air-conditioner in about 5 months although we usually do not need the heater. And I think the heater which use natural gas is also a big proportion of the home category footprint.

Hi Gavin, yes well you definitely need to stay warm, but you can save some on your heating footprint if you use a lot of blankets at night so you can turn down the heat a bit.  Good luck!
