My carbon footprint ended up being about 30,372kg. I was way above average for my region. My other categories were relatively normal and somewhat below average. The majority of my carbon footprint came from transportation as I took a trip to Alaska over the summer. I expected it to be above average due to my trip but not that above average. The transportation really surprised me but my other stats for home, food, and purchases were below average so I suppose I’m keeping track of my foot print better than most. I learned mostly that flying really burns a lot of fuel. I also learned that we are expelling carbon at a huge rate into the atmosphere as humans. It’s mind boggling really. In the future I plan to get a more fuel efficient car and try to use less energy in the home through conserving electricity. If I recycle better when I’m out and about as I do it at home but not that much outside of my home.
OUr were similar because we both went on long trips, I went to New York. But I respect that you plan to get a more fuel efficient car later in life and you're going to conserve more energy. Thats what this country needs to do as a whole because as Americans, we usually are selfish and don't want to conserve.
I am from the USA and my footprint was relatively small, any advice in making it smaller?
