Not sure if any of you have heard of this new provider of water, but it's called Boxed Water is Better. It's just water but it is sold in containers that look like milk cartons. The entire container is made up of recycled materials and because they are made in a boxed shape, you can transport more of them with less space. With regular water bottles they hold such an odd shape that they take extra packaging to carry less. By having the dimensions of Boxed Water is Better, they have made their transporting more efficient and thus cut back on their carbon footprint while producing more products- for less!

Hi my name is Bryce I think that this Box water sounds like a great idea, recycling materials can be one of the most efficient ways to help our environment that isn't that hard to do. Also if we can find a more efficient way to transport this water without using those big trucks that use so much gas and kill the environment this would be great to help the earth.

That sounds like an awesome idea. Making transportation more efficient and using recycled materials are two great things. I would have never thought about the impact the shape of a container can have on the environment through transportation. Allowing more containers to be moved at one time will reduce the number of trucks that have to transport water from one place to another.  Containers made out of entirely recycled materials are also a huge deal. Plastic can be harmful, and not all of it can be recycled. This is definitely a great way to reduce carbon emissions.

I went to a concert over the summer here in Florida.  Imagine my surprise when I went to get a bottled water, and instead I saw boxes of water !  It's nice to see that the boxed water trend is gaining popularity, especially by famous musical acts and entertainers.

But while I agree that "boxed water is better" I would add that "tap water is best".  In some areas, municipal water might taste really bad, but in most places in the USA, it's not bad at all, and it is far more environmentally sound to refill your own water bottle than to buy water (not to mention cheaper!)

Jason, I also agree with you.  I have friends who refuse to drink tap water, which I don't understand considering our tap water here in Florida is completely safe to drink.

I was reading more on the topic recently and saw that the company, (Boxed Water is Better), is also giving 20% of all of their profits to plant more trees in areas that could have gone through deforestation. This company is coming up with more and more ways to reduce their carbon footprint. I think we should all follow in their path.

Hi megan, I think there is a bias against tap water for some reason!  Another solution is that if the tap water doesn't taste very good to use a water filter.  Also, some water fountains have filters to make the water taste better, and you can fill your water bottles there,

At the University of Washington, there are water fountains that are like that (with filters) - they call them "hydration stations." and that have counters on them telling you how many bottles of plastic water have been saved in that fountain - every time you fill up, the number goes up by one!

Bridget- thanks for the information.  It is good that they are trying to reduce the impact of their paper use (for the boxes) by planting more trees.

I just see this a comercial trap, why waste money in boxed water, when like many others mentioned previously there is the option of drinking tap water

I agree that boxed water is better than plastic bottles, but it still produces waste, using filters to filter tap water is better.
