Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

What if there is a better way to produce paper?

rdnalex

There is! But a lot of people don't even know it, and that's a shame.
A better way to produce paper is by using the cellulose of the hemp! I don't want to start a discussion about the weed, as a drug, because there are way too many opinions.
Infact I just want to talk about the hemp as a substitute of the tree (of the cellulose for the paper production).
There are at least 3 points that show that the hemp is a better solution:
•the hemp's plant takes 100 days to grow, instead of 5/10 years that takes a tree
•1 hectare of hemp it's enough to produce as much cellulose as 4 hectares of trees
•the hemp's plant is very useful! Besides the flower and the cellulose, we can produce clothes, bags, fuel and so on!

Try to think about these things next and open your eyes! The hemp is a way to save the environment and the trees!
