Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint...

mellissab-usa

I was actually surprised that my footprint was so large (14266 kg)! My family takes many steps to be "ecofriendly", we recycle and upcycle, I ride my bicycle to school most days, we buy mostly organic products, and we purchase a  lot of second hand clothes, etc. Somehow, our footprint is still much larger than it should be. I read that another student was going to challenge themselves to lower their footprint over the next month, and I think I am going to jump on that wagon! How great would it be to start a movement in that direction? Here's a great article I ran across on the subject...http://carbonfund.org/reduce
