Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My carbon footprint

sophiez14

When I saw my results for my carbon footprint I was a bit shocked that my results were lower than the average person in Texas. I was extremely shocked when I saw that my transportation data was average. I was almost 100% sure that my average would be larger than normal because I travel so much for softball and take a family road trip each year. I was also surprised with the results from food because I eat a lot. Not even kidding, I snack as soon as I get home from school. I don't really eat a dinner; I generally eat many snacks and eat dessert. I don't eat many locally grown foods or organic foods, but I guess numbers don't lie.
I can lower my carbon footprint more by carpooling more with my friends for tournaments and other events for sports. I also have a problem with forgetting to turn off my lights at nights and unplugging my chargers from my outlets, but I can fix that easily.
