Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Turning Off Your Lights
Try turning your lights off whenever they aren't absolutely necessary. Many people leave their lights on when they go out to eat or leave for school, which wastes so much energy. Not turning off the lights in your home or anywhere when you are not using them will not only waste energy, but it will drain you of your money. It is such an easy step to take and it makes a big difference. I encourage you to try and do this and turn off your lights when they are not needed.
Definitely agree! Some of my friends always turn on the lights when they had leaved the rooms. The lights need a lot of energy and they will waste plenty of electricity. Also, it's not necessary to keep the lights on when you are not using them. Now, the price of the electricity is increasing in China. I think this could be a good way to remind people do not waste lights and try to save electricity.
Hey I think many people do not turn off their light at night though they don't need it at all, turn off light is a really easy way to save resources.
I totally agree with you! Many people think leave the lights on for just few mins will not waste so much energy but if you do it many times, you will waste a lot. Also, some of my friend are afraid of sleeping in the darkness, but I think this is just a little problem that all of us can overcome because leaving the lights on for a whole night can waste too much energy!
I completely agree! To go a step further we can get energy efficient light bulbs. Some examples include halogen incandescent, compact fluorescent lamps, and light emiting diodes. These lights use 25% to 80% less energy than a regular light bulb. They also can last 3 to 25 times longer.
Definitely true. Even my family members let the lights on sometimes, not sure if they forgot or for any other reason, but the fact is that there are a lot of people that currently do not turn off the lights, even after leaving the room. I think that people should use the natural light of the sun and completly don't use the bulbs (at least at the day of course)
I agree with you! People must learn to turn off the light when it isn't necessary to keep them on. Another way to save energy would be to change normal bulb with energy saving LED bulbs.
