Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Paper bag or plastic bag?

abr1

I don't know wich bag is better about the pollution. For make plastic we use a lot of oil and for make paper a lot of trees. Both the systems are harmful for the environment. For you wich bag is better?

michelv

Hey, I think that neither of them is the best.
As you have said to make paper bags we uses trees, and for plastic bags we use oil. But if we buy a plastic basket and we use whenever we need? For example, to go shopping. If we need something more comfortable we can buy a backpack!
We spend one time a little more money but it's worth it!
do you have other ideas?

I agree with Michel above! It is not good to use either bag but if you do I would use the plastic because they are most likely be able to be used instead of the paper bags. Also where I live stores now a days has a recycle bin in front of stores for your plastic bags. At my house that is what we do but we also reuse the bag around our house like for mini trash and and sometimes a doggie bag.
