Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Taxes
Do you believe people should be taxed based on how much carbon they produce?
yes, hayden i totally agree. I believe that would encourage people to produce less carbon dioxide.
I think that this would totally help, and an overall cap on how much you can produce would be great to.
I believe that taxing people will make people realize how much carbon they are producing and might try to help lower it.
While a tax would certainly help, Ben is right in suggesting making a cap, though I'd add a very harsh punishment for exceeding it. Big corporations might still be able to push on despite the taxes, so a cap would be needed to convince them to at least stop there.
The punishment being a heavy fine, say in the range of millions?
I'd say it would depend on the size of the company, but money does drive a lot of people. The larger, the heavier the price (and also depending on how much they exceeded).
I think that they should be fined because no matter how succesful their company is it all means nothing if we ruin the planet we live on. Saving planet earth from greedy billionaires should be first priority in govronment
