The ISCFC is all about reducing our individual and collective contributions to climate change.
But is climate change really happening? Is it mostly caused by human activity, including our production of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases?
In the United States and elsewhere, there are people who are not convinced by the science. But the great thing about science is that we use evidence to evaluate scientific questions. So what is the evidence related to climate change?
Are you or are you not convinced by the majority of climate scientists who say that climate change is real and largely human caused? Why are you convinced/not convinced? What evidence might change your mind one way or the other?
Is Climate Change Real & Human-Caused? >
Humans are Causing Climate Change
Climate change is a major issue which many refuse to believe. Yet, it is definitely occurring and is unfortunately mainly human caused. Scientists specializing in climate change working for the IPCC have created models showing clear evidence greenhouse gases from fossil fuels have impacted the pH of the ocean, the earth's surface temperature, and the melting of glaciers. The experiments clearly modeled the climate change with greenhouse gas emissions versus what it would be naturally, showing the tremendous effect on greenhouse gasses have on climate change.
Many argue climate change is simply Earth's natural cycle and is not human caused. They claim global warming is no different than Earth's past history of ice ages over the millennia. What they don't know is those earlier drastic climate changes were caused by shifts in Earth's orbit, while today, the rise in climate and ocean temperatures are being caused by greenhouse gases from fossil fuels which have increased linearly with the rise in temperature.
Therefore, climate change is definitely occurring and humans n eed to take action immediately. We can start by simply using solar power, going electric, and most importantly cutting fossil fuel emissions. Whatever it takes, it must be done as soon as possible before the Earth evolves into a climate catastrophe.
